Position: Field Service Engineer  

Location: Field based – Northern Ireland

Job type: Full Time, Permanent

 

The impact you will have

Reporting to the Service Team Leader, you will be fully responsible for the maintenance, repair and installation of Arjo and customer current product ranges.  

 

Duties

 

  • Carry out service & maintenance itinerary in accordance with Company and Service procedures, whilst seeking to optimise use of time and minimise associated costs.
  • Ensure he/she is fully conversant with products working on and Company and local Health and Safety requirements and arrangements so work on customer's premises is done in a professional and safe manner.
  • Complete and submit all relevant documentation accurately and within agreed timescales.
  • On arrival at customer's premises, to inform staff of reason for visit and request permission before carrying out the required work.  Upon completion of the required work, to ensure work area is clean and tidy, disposal of parts and chemicals is in line with site instructions and relevant documentation is fully completed, correctly authorised and required copies left with authorising employee.  
  • Feedback any recommendations to Arjo following visits to customers premises, and on an on-going basis to contribute ideas and observations in a professional manner, that may support on-going improvement in Arjo products and services.
  • Ensure personal appearance and levels of hygiene and health are of an exemplary standard in keeping with the Company’s market area and ethos. 
  • Maintain all tools, spares and equipment within his/her care in a safe working condition highlighting anything unsafe to Supervisor or Line Manager immediately.  Any losses, breakages or excess wear and tear should be reported immediately to authorise Engineer obtaining replacements.
  • Liaise with Arjo co-ordinator and customer contacts to advise intended appointment times and duration of works to ensure customers are fully informed at all times.   
  • Highlight to senior managers any shortcomings, malpractice or dishonesty contrary to company policies and procedures discovered in the course of carrying out duties.
  • Work as part of an on-call rota

 

 

The skills you will need

 

  • City and Guild/NTEC/ONC or similar qualifications in mechanical/electrical engineering - Preferrable
  • Mechanical/electrical engineering experience – Preferrable
  • Conversant with ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007, the Company’s Integrated Management System - Desirable
  • Previous Medical Device industry experience – Desirable
  • It is essential to have excellent written and spoken English.
  • UK Requirements: Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Driving Licence: Required to hold a valid UK drivers licence.
  • Travel: Ability to travel within UKI with overnight stays as and when required.
  • Enhanced Access NI Disclosure: Required at the cost of Arjo.
  • IT: Microsoft Office skills namely Excel and Word

Due to the nature of this role, it is required that you live within reasonable travelling distance from the core area of work which is Belfast.
