Join Our Team as an HR Advisor!

Are you passionate about HR and looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic organization? We are seeking a dedicated HR Advisor to join our team at Global Sales & Service Head Office, based in Houghton Regis, which will include travel across the UK and Ireland.

 

The skills you will need

 

Excellent Employee Relations Skills (this will be the key focus for the first six months in the role):

  • Provide expert support on employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, performance, and absence management, including supporting in investigations and hearings, staying fair and compliant throughout.
  • Support the creation and implementation of Informal Coaching Plans and Performance Improvement Plans, ensuring consistency and fairness in performance-related decisions.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and mediation sessions, supporting Trade Union engagement where necessary.
  • Deliver training sessions on conflict resolution, respectful workplace behaviour, and policy awareness.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners, Legal partners, and Compliance teams to address complex employee relations issues.
  • Maintain accurate records on the ER metrics, analysing trends and providing insights and proactive interventions.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners, Legal partners, and the Compliance teams to address complex employee relation issues.

 

HR Operational / Generalist Skills:

  • Provide HR advice and support on absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievance matters, redundancy consultations, investigations, recruitment, employment, and employee relations.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with business areas, managers, employees, and union representatives to establish professional credibility.
  • Lead the management of casework related to sickness absence, including making recommendations, giving advice, and supporting managers while liaising with Occupational Health.
  • Brief HR Business Partners on business areas, providing timely metrics and information, and escalating cases to relevant HRBPs as needed.
  • Support the development of managers' skills by advising, coaching, and guiding them through relevant policies and processes.
  • Advise and support managers on disciplinary and grievance casework, ensuring compliance with legislation, policy, and best practices.
  • Assist the recruitment team and recruiting managers by providing dedicated recruitment services, including advising on recruitment and selection and participating in interviews.
  • Stay up to date with developments in employment legislation and HR best practices, sharing knowledge within the team for continuous improvement.
  • Provide cover across all HR service areas and work collaboratively with HR colleagues.
  • Initiate and support engagement initiatives for the client area and the wider business.
  • Maintain and update manual and computerized HRIS, ensuring accurate data recording.
  • Prepare regular and ad hoc management information reports and key HR metrics, performing analysis to identify trends and improvements.
  • Design and deliver development workshops in HR best practices to enhance knowledge and skills within the business.
  • Provide input and support for client area projects, change management programs, and working groups.
  • Offer administrative support, including preparing contractual documentation, policies and procedures, letters, and general employment correspondence.
  • Oversee the collation of changes for the designated business area and ensure timely submission to payroll.
  • Support HR Business Partners in Learning & Development initiatives across the business.

 

Qualifications and other skills required:

  • CIPD HRM qualified to level 5 or equivalent or working towards. Relevant work experience
  • In-depth knowledge of UK and ROI employment law and HR Policies and proven expertise in employment law and employee relations issues
  • Experience working in an HR Function at a similar level
  • Broad and generalist HR technical knowledge and expertise
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and build strong relationships with colleagues
  • Experience of presenting and / or workshop delivery
  • Strong MS office experience
  • The understanding of working in a confidential environment with high standards of professionalism and ethics in relation to personal information
