The Warehouse assistant will provide support to the Operations and its daily functions of the inbound, outbound, location management and operations administration areas of the department

 

As the Warehouse Assistant you will be responsible for:

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Packing and unpacking of all inbound and outbound goods.
  • Take reasonable care for own safety and that of others at work by reporting any safety hazards, accidents or incidences to your supervisor.
  • Assist with cycle counts and quarterly stock takes.
  • Picking and dispatching of stock.
  • Ensure the rotation of stock (FIFO)
  • Stacks and sorts inbound and outbound goods with Forklift and loading/unloading of items.
  • Ensure the safe handling of all products during picking, loading and offloading.
  • Reporting of all damaged items to supervisor.
  • Co travel with Driver for deliveries when required.
  • Operate the Forklift for and maintain good service record and ensure that it is neat, clean and in a proper working order. 
  • Housekeeping internally/externally.
  • Ensure pallets are stored correctly
  • Verifying stock and identifying losses; and maintaining an organized layout and safe work environment
  • Physical ability to lift and carry items weighing +/- 40kg.
  • Assisting delivery drivers in loading and unloading of orders to customers.
  • Report accidents / incidents to your supervisor and follow safe operating procedures at all times.

 

Administrative Duties

  • Completing of daily activity reports.
  • Completing of all checklist for equipment.
  • Stock count cards bin locations.

 

Quality System Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting with quarterly cycle counts.
  • Assisting at annual physical inventory
  • To assist in other duties as requested to the Operations Supervisor
  • To assist driver on deliveries
  • Adhere to all company polices
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules

 

Requirements

 

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • At least 1-2 years’ work experience
  • People person
  • Valid driver’s license and experience in driving and maintaining a company vehicle
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be available to work after hours during weekdays and on weekends.
