The Magog R&D team is looking for a new mechanical project manager for rail and accessory projects. Would you like to contribute to the design of equipment that changes lives? Come and join us!

 

Responsabilities:

  • Lead the technical development of rail, rail accessory and lift installation projects in accordance with the Product Development Process (PDP) and regulatory requirements;
  • Participate in the planning of development stages and support the Project Manager in the overall planning of design stages;
  • Find innovative technical solutions to meet needs/requirements while ensuring that the design is robust, safe, efficient, manufacturable by suppliers at an acceptable cost and easy to assemble for production;
  • Supervise the technical work of colleagues on projects for which he/she is responsible;
  • Validate the calculations, simulations and analysis of test results of colleagues;
  • Write and approve detailed design requirements;
  • Translate user requirements and desired product functionalities into technical solutions;
  • Provide risk analysis information and ensure the integration of design mitigation;
  • Find, select and integrate solutions to design issues;
  • Elaborate and/or revise and/or approve documentation related to research and development projects;
  • Participate in product certification processes;
  • Identify, select and integrate solutions to design issues;
  • Develop and/or revise and/or approve documentation related to research and development projects;
  • Participate in product certification processes; 
  • Identify and participate in continuous improvement projects;
  • Liaise with other departments (engineering, purchasing, production, QA) for the introduction of new products.

Requirements:

  • University degree in mechanical engineering, combined with 10 or more years' experience in product development;
  • Experience or training in civil engineering an asset;
  • Strong interest in structural design and building dynamics;
  • Fluency in French and English (5/5), you will frequently be required to communicate with other R&D sites to share best practices related to your projects;
  • Leadership, rigor, creativity and autonomy;
  • Mastery of manufacturing and assembly processes;
  • Extensive knowledge of strength of materials;
  • Experience with CAD software (Solidworks);
  • Experience in finite element analysis an asset;
  • Knowledge of construction standards and building codes an asset;
  • Ability to contribute to several projects at the same time;
  • Ability to train and support team members;
  • Good analytical skills and ability to work as part of a team;
  • Empathy towards users and ability to understand the context in which products are used;
  • Willingness to travel abroad on occasion.
