Position: Mechanical Engineer, Product Development & Engineering

Location: Malmö, Sweden

The impact you will have

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our collaborative and highly skilled Product Development & Engineering team in Malmö. In this role you will be key in developing and maintaining state-of-the-art medical devices that make a real difference for people facing mobility challenges. You will be involved in the design and development of mechanical systems and components, all the way from initial concept to running production, utilizing our advanced prototype workshop and rapid prototyping facilities, in a global and cross-functional setting.

 

 

Some of your responsibilities will be to:

  • Design and develop mechanical systems and components and prepare technical documentation, including specifications, part drawings, and assembly drawings.
  • Create 3D models and perform analysis, including tolerance analysis and FEM simulations.
  • Conduct customer visits and user tests to ensure our products meet real-user needs
  • Develop and execute test procedures, including bench testing, to ensure design functionality and performance.
  • Support the Design Assurance team to identify and mitigate design risks and perform verification and certification activities to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations (FDA, ISO, EU Medical Device Directives, etc.).
  • Collaborate with sales units, manufacturing and suppliers to ensure cost efficient, high quality designs.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and resolve design-related issues.
  • Develop and maintain mechanical engineering procedures and tools.

The skills you will need:

  • Minimum Bachelor´s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering discipline.
  • At least 3 years of experience in mechanical design.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Good understanding of cost control, DFM/DFA and product risk management.
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and 3D printing technologies.
  • Familiarity with machine shop practices and hands-on prototype development.
  • Strong communication skills, to technical and non-technical audiences and ability to work effectively in global cross-functional teams.

 

Bringing experience in the medical device industry and knowledge of its standards and regulations will give you a strong advantage. Experience in other regulated industries is also appreciated. We’re especially interested in candidates with expertise or hands-on experience in areas such as plastic injection molding, composite technology, welded constructions, and fluid dynamics or plumbing.

 

The role will require international travel.

 

You will be reporting to the Manager Mechanical & Product Design, Malmö
